first I asked you about the music taste of yr parents, now what kind of music do your brother(s) or sister(s) listen to?
My little brother isat that 70's-80's metal and hard rock stage (as in he listens to Guns N Roses, Led Zeppelin and AC/DC). He is teaching himself the guitar track to Bon Jovi's "Dead or Alive" as we speak. I honestly have no idea what my older brother listens to. He used to listen to lots of techno and used to be a fan of Eminem, but he isn't much of a music person anyway.

my little brother who is 12 listens to the same music as i . i guess you could say i influenced him or whatever. we sometimes jam together.
my older sister's music taste however is atrocious and i hate it. it's like the kind of mainstream shit that plays on the OC. (shame on her) my younger sister who is only 6 does not yet listen to music. but will often sing along with the occasional violent femems in the car. |

uh. whatever is cool on the "scene" at that time. went from "emo" to "Screamo" to "hardcore" to "hip-hop". so hip-hop at this time.

My 40-year-old brother, 10 years younger than me, is much more into classic rock, not very much into SY or other more alternative things. He was a little in the early 90s, when Nirvana broke, but mostly because I was into it. Then we kind of parted musical paths. He's all Springsteen and Dylan and Neil Young and the Beatles these days.

My brother (13) listens to AC/DC, random heavy metal/hardcore stuff, Weezer, Beatles, and some other random stuff. Basically just whatever his friends listen to. Still hasn't shown any interest in alternative stuff.

Nothing wrong with Dylan either, seeing's how I recently paid more than 20 bucks for my second copy of Blonde on Blonde. But Springsteen and the Beatles can kiss my ass...

My oldest brother, who is 15, only likes Nirvana and The Ramones as far as rock music goes. Everything else is rap and hip-hop, particularly Kanye West.
The middle brother (14) only listens to Def Leppard and the soundtrack to the Hitchhiker's Guide movie. And songs from Mulan, and church. Mostly he likes to hear himself sing. My youngest brother (10) will listen to anything he hears played on any of the anime shows he watches.

My Sister intoduced me to the wonders of Take That, Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson and a lot of mid-90's hip-hop (Gangstarr anyone?), as well as a lot of gay 80's stuff (especially Erasure).
My Brother caused me to listen to lots and lots of British punk from when I was about 7 or so, and consequently caused me to be bored of punk by the age most people are starting to hear the Pistols or The Clash. Apart from the Slits, I haven't retained much of that side of things. His reggae collection was swallowed into mine about the time he threw out his record player. I'm quite lucky to have a ten year gap between me and my siblings.

My sister is is six years older than me (she's 45), and grew up in the early 70s with Bay City Rollers, Osmonds, David Cassidy, etc. She's never really improved upon that standard really. Theres no crossover at all between her taste and mine. I think she wanted a Sealion Dion CD for Christmas last year. I refused.
I always encourage my 14 year old niece to bring her Sugababes CDs with her when I drive her anywhere though. |
