i have seen i think four of his movies-
third generation- 9/10 the marriage of maria braun- 9/10 ali: fear eats the soul- 8/10 satans brew- extremely bizzare, i should probably see it again. but as of now id give it a 6.5 fassbinder is amazing. i once took berlin alexanderplatz out of the library that i work at for the weekend, but didnt watch it. but if i ever have 15 hours to spare, im either watching that or the ring of the neibeliung

congratulations on your popped cherry. fassbinder was fucking awesome. check out: fox and his friends satan's brew (fucking hilarious) chinese roulette (awesome cameras circle crazed family) the marriage of maria brown --> lola --> veronika voss berlin alexanderplatz (14 episodes) mother kuster goes to heaven anything he made was really good, fuck, don't discount his tv shit. some is hard to find. berlin alexanderplatz was made for tv and was released just a couple of years ago in a shiny new dvd edition by criterion. |

Sweet!
I guess I'll just watch everything I can then. Year of 13 Moons and Third Generation are coming in the mail this week from nflix. I'll probably watch a lot of 'em before I get to the 15 hour one... |

I've seen Ali: Fear Eats the Soul and Fox and His Friends. Didn't really get the big deal about either, though I'll watch more of his films before I form a proper opinion on Fassbinder.

My favorite, Veronika Voss. Above is a pic of the best scene.

I thought that Fear Eats The Soul was brilliant. Berlin Alexanderplatz on the other hand was initially interesting but quickly became tedious and boring and just seems completely pointless and self-indulgent. I watched the last extra long episode on fast forward. It was still possible to read the subtitles at that speed.

I was just making a joke on his name, not really calling him a fat bender. I don't know who Fassbender is anyway. But congratulations on knowing his brother anyway.
