my dad had a very bad temper, very bad and he wasnt afraid to get handy with it either so do something bad at your peril.

My mom would smack me if I went out of line. If my dad needed to get involved, that meant I did something really bad and he was gonna get the belt out.
I saw the belt more than a few times......I was a sneaky fucker. |

my dad never really disciplined me
my mom was pretty chill but was always the one who yelled and smacked me on occasion until i got big enough to smack her back and then we'd really get into it and throw shit at each other...once i put my foot through a chair

i got the usuals...spankings, sometimes with an object, time outs, corners, groundings to my bedroom until they became too furnished to be punishment. I turned out well rounded

legend has it that at one social gathering, at the age of 4 i flatly refused a piece of cake, and instead asked for a carrot stick. the 3 women were so taken aback that instead of giving me a carrot stick, they just stood there wide-eyed and unable to move, so i got on a chair and grabbed a few myself.
all that because my mother had told me not to eat any junk food that day. i'm told i had my fits of rage too, but when i wanted to be obedient, i was damn good

I can't recall either one of my parents physically disciplining me. Verbal discipline, yeah, but I really never needed too much of it. I was a very quiet, agreeable child and I had good manners.

My parents had it so fucking easy. They sent me to a psychiatrist for getting "B"s on my report card. When I turned 18 it was payback time...

I used to get yelled at by my parents, but I was a good kid. I saw what they did to my older brothers, that made me an angel.

Payback time, nice, I wish I could give people what they deserve all the time. As for my parents, they yell quite a bit, they usually fight with each other more than yelling at us. My mom usually yells at us to make us do something, my dad insults us pretty bad, it sucks. They don't hit me. Thank God. I would run away if they did |

I was almost annoyingly well behaved as a kid, and still am as an adult.

i was scared shitless of my dad when i was little. my mom smacked me a couple of times, dad pulled on my ear, and did the whole 'belt' thing. it definitely set my ass straight. i probably was an annoying fucker when i was little.
parents don't discipline their kids at all anymore. kids need a beating |

I was a really well-behaved kid but once I took one step out of line my dad would scream at the top of his lungs in my face. Good times.

They have me pretty sorted, I don't really get out of line much. Never been hit or anything like that.

This is kind of a thing is a mystery to me. Somehow they were able to transverse the fragile medium between under and over disciplining me to what seems to me as a wise upbringing. I have relatively little emotional damage from my childhood.

My father was strict and my mother neutral.
So i was always shouted at when i did something wrong (which never happened but they still found stuff to bring up somehow) but never complimented me when i did something right (most of the time)/ >> consequence. Now I understand the idea behind all this (never be satisfied with what you've done , you can always do it better , hence some sense of leaning towards the prefect which is a quality and a defect at the same time) |

What's discipline?
I've never been grounded and when I was younger I could pretty much tantrum-my-way into getting what I wanted. I ended up okay, though. At least I like to think so. |
