as usual of course! anyways yeah i applied to the university of texas at austin. it's like one of the best schools in the country and if i don't get in i'll die!! well not really, but i don't know what i'll do. i don't want to go to any other school. and i want to go there so i can go live with my brother cause he went there and now he's going back for his masters. my gpa is a 3.67 which isn't very good to me. i'm one of those people who cries when they get a B. ugh the admissions lady told me that i have a good chance, but i think she just told me that cause she was a lazy ass and didn't want to answer my questions. oh i'm going to make my self sick. has anyone here attended this school?

No, but I know they often whistle at their cattle, so don't get alarmed.

I've heard they do things much worse than whistle at their cattle.

Well, they don't just look at your GPA, they look at SATs and activities too, as well as your essay and whatever supplement application they give you. (I was asked what my favorite book was)
Anyways, since it is a public school, 3.67 is pretty good for getting into one. If you don't get in, you can always take all your unimportant required classes at a community college, ace them, and reapply. Community college is really underrated, it is cheap, the credits transfer, and it is less of a big step than moving out and going to a big university. |

3.67 is pretty damn good just about anywhere, and even better if you already go to a good school. add that to the fact (i think) that admissions officers tend to be somewhat more lenient on transfer applicants, and you probably have a damn good chance.
i know precisely what you're going through right now . . . i'm taking the lsat (law school admission test) in a couple weeks and it's freaking me out. i've taken about a bazillion sample lsats and ranged anywhere from a 165 to a 178 (the scores go from 120 to 180, with 170 being around the 99th percentile), but i take way too long most of the time (on one section i've gone a MINIMUM of ten minutes overtime). add that to the fact that i'm trying to aim insanely high (i may apply to harvard, columbia, and uva, among others . . . i have a 3.80 gpa, which i don't think is high enough), and you could say i'm a tad unnerved by the whole process, even though i'm months away from beginning to apply. as for the whole type-a-ness about grades . . . trust me, i feel your pain. lowest grade i've ever received in college was a b, and i got unbelievably pissed with myself when i got that, especially considering it was in symbolic logic and i'm a math major, so that should supposedly be my forte. (of course, the professor used to teach at oxford and he gave this obscenely long final that counted for 65% of the final grade, so whaddya gonna do . . .) ok, after that meandering rant . . . good luck.

yeah my gpa was a 3.8 too until this semester ended...then it dropped to a 3.67! i couldn't believe it! when i saw my grades online i felt my freakin heart drop! i was so disappointed. and it's gonna be more competitve for me to get in because i'm a psych major and it's like one of the most popular majors, so yeah it's gonna be tough. but i'm hopping that since i turned in my application 5 months early it will help. cause they aren't due till october.

wow, you've handled it better than i would have . . . a 13 basis point drop in gpa over a single semester would do irreversible psychological damage to me.

I don't think you'll have much of a problem then. Getting those kinds of grades in college shows them that you are fully capable of college work. |

I writing college essays in my english class now (im going to a community college so I dont need it for school, just the grade) and its tough. This 500 word paper is defining you as a person. The entire year Ive been writing in a third person formal style and now I have to boast about my self.
Go for gold Laila! |
