The new Bruce Springsteen album becomes top priority on your shopping list.
It's gonna be afternoon naps, DIY catalogues and TV re-runs of Zulu from now on I think.

I love that new Springsteen single, "Radio Nowhere". Reminds me of a good mid-to-late-period Ramones track.

If I don't like Springsteen, does that mean I'll never get old? I've never liked him.

I've been listening to music that is old enough to be a couple of my fathers since forever, but I still drink from the fountain of youth. Just in case.

Radio Nowhere is a great song. Never thought of the Ramones but yeah, you're kind of right. Then again, so far as I can remember, Hungry Heart was originally written for The Ramones, so maybe the link isn't that strange at all. Either way, I'm gonna be walking straight past Thurston's new album to buy it today.

Mmm, good point. Maybe I should get Thurston's album as well. But then again, isn't he roughly the same age as Bruce anyway?

The last album of his that I really like is The Ghost of Tom Joad, which was without the E. Street Band.

He and the E. Street Band played for like three to four hours this week for NBC's Today show. The broadcast kept cutting to them every so often for a song or two. One of the new ones that aired in its entirety was "Long Walk Home," and it was pretty good.

Listening to Magic right now. It's a Bruce Springsteen album, that's for sure. Consequently, he wont be losing any die hard fans with this, although he probably won't be gaining any new ones either.

Springsteen can write great songs, as proved by Bowie ("Saint in the City"), Patti ("Because the Night"), and Waits ("Jersey Girl"), but his originals all come off as pure cheese in my book.

Occasionally if I'm in the mood for such cheese, he works as well as Manilow, who is actually a similar poetic talent. I can't think of a more wonderfully ridiculous lyric than "Outside the streets on fire in a real death waltz between what's flesh and what's fantasy/ And the poets down here don't write nothin' at all they just stand back and let it all be" Probably should have taken his own advice, but worth a laugh at the right moment.
