Or musicians who rock out even though they don't play rock music as such. I have been listening to Add N To X again after a long time, and they rock out without being what you'd think a rock band would be. Any honourable mentions?

Skills Mr & B. I'd have to add Shitmat, Scotch Egg, Bong Ra, most happy hardcore DJs (drugs + idiotically simple music = rock). Dalek, Otomo Yoshihide's 'DJ-ing' things and, of course, pretty much anyone from the first and second wave of DHR artists (before it became an actual rock label).

This new wave of Omaha alterno-country seems to be rocking heartily.

The Young Gods are a great example of a band that rocks without being a traditional rock band, but unfortunately are a bloody dull live act as a result.

I actually would vote Autechre as well.. Untilted is a fucking rock album if I've ever heard one. That shit pounds. On this board I lurk on, some guy is tabbing out and covering Autechre songs on guitar. |
