Or sacred truths about certain musicians or bands that seem to get a bashing for either the wrong reasons or unfairly. You start first because I have to dash off to see someone.

Soft Bulletin is easily the most overrated alternative album of the last 10 years. Flaming Lips are overrated and are only famous for their live shows.

... in creative expression. Tautologies like "music is sound and silence over time" exist. The only limits to artistic expression are the artist and the medium. You can say it is true that the guitars in this song are distorted in this way, but you can't say that it is true that the guitars are beautiful/ugly/boring/etc.

Perhaps I'm misreading the question because I thought the subjectivity of taste was a commonly held notion here.

fun house is the second greatest rock album ever recorded

VU & Nico is a great album.
The Carpenters were great.
Nevermind was good.
Dirty is a good album.
I will survive is a great song.
Karaoke is fun.

I'm finding more and more fleshworld people these days - I know at least 6 - who'll admit that MCR are a guilty pleasure.

c. music in the seventies only really started with punk
