There are some albums that have more impact if listened to after the sun's gone down and darkness has enveloped the land...
What are your favorites? Here are mine: Pink Floyd-Dark Side of the Moon The Cure-Seventeen Seconds Radiohead-Kid A Massive Attack-Mezzanine Miles Davis-Bitches Brew Deftones-Saturday Night Wrist

I must say, The Secret Machine's Now Here Is Nowhere is an excellent night album.
But that's about it. |

Deerhoof's recent one. The new Liars. The recent Racc-ooo-oon LP. Sticky Fingers, Exile, Horses, Never Mind the Bollocks, Daydream Nation, Dirty, Goo.
But seriously, almost anything works for night listening.

Haven't done it in awhile but I love playing an album, at night, with the lights out, getting the room as dark as possible, some albums listening in darkness sound on the verge of mindblowing. Certainly just about any Radiohead album, Bjork's "Debut" would be great to listen to in darkness. Or hell, any instrumental album, sometimes I like to put in my green lightbulb at night and listen to albums, not really a hallucinogenic experiance, but trippy in its own way.

Just about any Tom Waits.
I just about only listen to Evol at night. After coming home drunk after a party or something I love to listen to Neil Young's After the Gold Rush. I know there are more, but I'm exhausted so my thinking isn't its best. |

There's only a few I can think of, and they're pretty much only because of nostalgia or personal reasons... like, I listened to it while being moody... at night one time, or I walked around listening to it on my headphones... at night one time, or I listened to it in a car on a long drive... at night one time... Actually, there are some that just feel more ...right... at night, you know? They just become more powerful and moving. I will mark these with an asterisk.
Namely, Sigur Ros - Agaetis Byrjun Nirvana - Nevermind Sonic Youth - Nurse * and the early stuff* Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over the Sea * This Heat - Deceit * Animal Collective - Feels * Arcade Fire - Funeral Joy Division - anything by 'em. Subhumans - see JD Tom Waits - See Subhumans/JD Teenage Jesus + Jerks - See Tom Waits/Subhumans/JD ...Fuck, I'm sorry, that is a lot longer than I had a clue I would write.

The liner notes say, "For nocturnal use only. Not to be listened to during day light!!"
