applied for it months ago and had the old one returned with a note saying i should get my new one soon and still nothing. called the office and it turns out they dont use the regular mail they use a private courier who is supposed to get a signature when delivering but apparantly dont and the new one was sent out weeks ago. so someone is out there using my passport for god knows what! i know this is a bit of a rant but i am at the end of my rope having spoken to every department imaginable only to get static.
i have heard so many stories of people having to go to the passport office the day before they fly to pick theirs up. my flight leaves in a few weeks.

i doubt anybody here knows anybody who can fix that, but you never know. maybe crypto knows the british ambassador in the republic of texas, and he can place some calls to his 3rd cousin in the foreign office, lord wankington--who knows what kind of influence he might pull.

Probably some uk boarder stole it on purpose not to let you fly away. Does anyone on here work in postal offices or something?

thing is passport prices have gone up because they now contract out this courier who apparantly does not do a very good job. have found out that many people have either had their passport stolen and used fraudulently or delivered to wrong address's etc. its just so frustrating when you cant get a straight answer.

you'll be fine.. I applied for mine like 23 days before I needed to fly.. and I got it in 13? without even paying the 'rush' fee. as long as you pester them and are willing to go take it in to the office and pick it up from the office ( sorting/travel are the most time consuming things for yr passport) it'll be done really fast.
well.. in my country at least. but that is really lame that your government is supposedly using a private courier. here you can have it direct posted from the office (using the next day delivery bags) or they make you pick it up from your local post office, or you pick it up from the government building in the city.

the price of uk passports increased in order to cover the costs of all the anti fraud measures introduced a few years ago. private contractors are usually cheaper than the post office, that's why govt uses them - but they're no more reliant or trust worthy. hope you get your replacement soon.

my next move will be to curl up in a ball and rock gently backwards and forwards haha.
i just heard from them and they told me they would have to do a formal investigation as it 'may have been compromised' and used illegally but would not tell me where. looks like i picked the wrong week to quit taking barbituates.
