Lou Reed may have made better solo albums but for me Transformer is the one. Its imagery and atmosphere were like some kind of window into this amazingly romantic and exciting world that, during my early teens, I became really quite obsessed with, and sort of daydreamed about living in. Now I tend to take it a bit for granted, but thinking about it its probably one of only maybe three or four other albums that I can't imagine ever living without. Whether that makes it a 'classic' I neither know nor care.

i think this is his best, followed by metal machine music and then (we take) berlin.

Interesting fact is that Walk On The Wild Side is about a lady-boy.

I believe the word "duh" would be very appropriate here. I knew my fiancee was the girl I wanted to marry when she told me she had Transformer on vinyl. |

hah lady-boy.
although I can't say I like it much as VU's Loaded, any album that's about giant morphing robots is good by me. we give it two thumbs up. |

I've always preferred Berlin.

This record sucks. It only proves that Lou Reed is nothing without VU atmosphere.
