OM are really good, but if you have a short attention span, their 20-minute opuses may not appeal to you. It's basically Sleep with no guitarist. Bass, drums, voice. Heavy and repetitive. I like them, but I am surprised that they don't sound a little more "subsonic" than they do. Still, most enjoyable.
JAMC were better back in the day, but I haven't seen them recently so I can't say one way or the other. Their best music is behind them though, I'm afraid. |

yeah i like the sound of OM. they've been described to me on the one hand as doom sludge type shit . . . then on the other, as being quite uplifting spiritual, otherworldly . . . as for JAMC, i'm afraid that i won't appreciate them the way i should . . . which doesn't really make sense . . . but i'm sure you know what i mean. they play brixton in september is why i ask. |

i know it's un-pc to say it, but i like high on fire better than om.
still, om are fantastic, low, repetitive mantra like bass and drums doom that's more like afterlife. |

om is weird. they seem like something i'd really love, but i quickly lose interest. you REALLY have to be in the mood for them, more so than most bands in that genre. but when they're on, they're on. i think "spiritual sludge" IS a good way to describe them.. they're in the doom vein, but it doesn't sound nearly as "evil" as sunn or something. they're just a decent little band. i dunno.
and yeah ,high on fire rule. awesome riffs! |

when the jesus and mary chain split 10 years ago there was a pretty much unanimous opinion that they had become a dreadful band, and it's not like either of those guys have been doing anything worthwhile since, so i'd save myself £30 and skip their reunion show
