Definitely No. Greatest achievement is me getting out of bed in the morning and get ready for work

What did he say about it??

Greatest achievement by this man is hard to say. I do agree that Time Out Of Mind totally smokes most of the acclaimed 60’s albums. He’s been consistentalu great ever since. Yes even the crooner stuff.

Brownsville Girl is his greatest achievement.

And no. Isnit a great album? Of course it’s a great album. Is it “Highway 61 Revisited?” No. It’s not. So it can’t be his greatest achievement.

Go pop on Highway 61 and tell me it doesn’t give you chills to this day, even on listen #20,000

Lanois really knows how to create atmosphere.

The lyrics don't suck.

B or B+

I prefer their first album together, OH MERCY, because there's more musical variety and less bluesy wankery, but I don't expect anyone to agree with my assessment.

Wait, is that the one with “Most of the Time?” I can never remember... I get some of those ‘80s Dylan albums mixed up.

“Most of the Time” is great.

EDIT: Yep, it’s “Oh Mercy”

I've listened to 61 more times that I can count. It has many wonderful / timeless songs, but 2 or 3 of the songs are shit, aren't they?

Dylan and Lanois quarrelled a lot, and the sound isn't something that Dylan is happy about.

He is wrong though. He is entitled to his wrong opinions. Dylan is/was just too close to this thing to understand its greatness.

I really only like two of his songs. I just really don't care and I don't get it at all. And Lanois is an adult contemporary Cheese Factory of Mammoth proportions.

No lie, I did fall for "Make You Feel My Love" thanks to Adele, and being aware it's a Dylan cover. The other song from this general area is "Most of the Time" thanks to High Fidelity.

It was used to nice effect in that movie. It might be where I first noticed it too, but I know my father has always had a soft spot for that song and also “Sweetheart Lole You” from Infidels. Both great songs, and pretty much the only ones from around the ‘80s that’s I listen to with any regularity.

I find Lanois work on Willie Nelson’s - Teatro, to be epic!

Whoa. Listening now. Never heard this before. Really interesting. There will be an evening this summer when this record is the only thing that will make sense to play.

It's strange that there was so much attention to that song in the form of covers and hits, and so much fallout from the purists who claim that it is Hallmark Cards lyrics, and spoils the flow of the album.

I think it is brilliant, really. Sure, the lyrics are very simple and direct, like Lennon's Imagine or REM's Everybody Hurts. It sits perfectly at track 8 in this behemoth of an album.

I adore Blood On The Tracks - my second most favourite Dylan. Blonde On Blonde is also monumental.

But I think Time Out Of Mind is his most cohesive statement. It might not have the greatest Dylan songs all over it, but imho there isn't a second that is wasted on it, and the whole album flows beautifully as one grand statement of heartache and loss.

I have to say, "Love Sick" was simply astonishing when I first heard it. It's still pretty remarkable.

It's the one that even people who hate Dylan can possibly groove on.

Hard to believe this album turns 20 this year. Six of the songs are re-recordings of Nelson originals from the 1960’s. The Emmylou Harris backing vocals never sounded so good......this album doesn’t disappoint!!!
