They're good. Used to listen to em all the time between about 88 and 92. I think my favorite is still the debut.
Sort of Classic Alternative Rock by now, though.

i bought red heaven (because it's supposedly their "best" record) after having heard about them for years and i thought it was rubbish, then some years later a friend lent me an early EP and i thought it was pretty good.

We had a word for them back in the 80's when I lived in Boston, the same as for the Lemonheads: SHIT!
Oh, let me bold that for emphasis: SHIT! |

I like a few songs off of their debut. I haven't explored them outside of that.

I could never get into them. Not that I really tried much. There seemed to be some kind of an invisible line that stretched from them through The Pixies and on to PJ Harvey. They seemed to have similar fans. I never liked the Pixies or PJ Harvey either.

I had the Real Ramona but didn't like it much. Counting Backwards was OK, but sounded a lot like Where is my Mind?

I never really checked them out - but they're a lot like the pixies are they not? I like like Kristen Hersh a lot though, or well have done... aint listened to her in a while - i always thought me and my charms was good, the strings version also.. but i'd need to check that out again as i aint listened in so long

not at all. the two bands were friends, but the sounds are pretty different. hersh has a very unique vocal style, and is very forceful/compelling.
