Has anyone else here ever made up an imaginary band? After watching 'Spinal Tap' a while ago I ended up fabricating a full Belgian Death Metal band called 'Karnidge'. Members included 'Thaw', 'Warrior', and 'Neolith'.
Have you guys ever done this, or am I just weird? |

I've done that too, but that doesn't mean you're not weird.
I have an imaginary band called ShitSpoon. |

Well that puts some fears to rest.
Karnidge need a website, though, there's too much about them to remember. |

check out hk119 (www.hk119.co.uk), she's originally an artist who did humorous kitschy electronica videos as her work and they were so good she got signed to a label and has a proper album out

I might be the king of imaginary bands.
1. The Angry Barnacles is my main imaginary band. This is a "band" me and my friends started (talked about). We have defined the new genere "shitcore" and have band names. Decoy Hotdog-Vocals, bass, knob turner (Inspired by Don Fleming's Siver Rocket) Chief Super Butt Cheeks (me)-Lead Guitar, Spazz Solos Sargent Ketchup of the Space Bandits-Guitar Mix Master Meathook-Drums Sycho Synth-Synth 2.Bitch Slap consists of 3 bassists and 2 drummers. CHICAGO YOU HAVE BEEN BITCH SLAP'D! 3.Forklift is a classic rock band with the big hit Dancing in the Boys Room. 4. KFC Cruelty is a vegan grindcore band. Enough said. These are just some of the fucked up bands I think of when i'm bored. |

Yamaharishi and the Ghosts- they cover pop songs, but use auto-songs on yamaha keyboards to do the chord work. Yamaharishi has a lot of effects on his voice, and this is all over a dissonant background.

I like coming up with band names in my spare time.
One of my bands I swear I'm going to start one day is Super Prolific Virginal Abstract Champions. It's going to have at least thirty members, fifteen of whom will play guitar. Nine will play violin, and a bunch of people on stage will just play whatever they feel like that day. Two dancers will play accordion. It will be hardcore punk/twee, or "pweenk". Mp3 blogs everywhere will rush to document this new genre.

I've never come up with an imaginary band, but I assure you that you're not weird. In my spare time, I sometimes make up imaginary albums with imaginary time lengths. I don't worry about an album name, the name of songs, or anything--just the time lengths. You're not weird.
I'm not sure why I would want anybody to know this, but I posted it.

Yeah, in high school, my friends and I always told people we had a band called White Spyder. People really believed us too....though, we never recorded a song. Or even wrote a song.....how lame.

I do that! I like prime numbers, so most of my time-lengths are stuff like 7:35 or 5:13.

two fictional bands from a personal project...
THE SIDEWALK REJECTION -- imagine a cross between the pixies and the jesus and mary chain, laced with a hint of dance rhythms new order style.. add profound lyrics and artistic deliverance... THE ENEMA DEFECTS -- fun gutter punk band with humor and substance.. think of a cross breed of dead kennedys, velvet underground and L7.. sometimes imagining music is as satisfactory as living it..

Only one I have is "Achoo and the Sneezes" with no set genres or anything like that. I did get the domain already though. achooandthesneezes.com
I tend to use it for the band name of any mix CDs I make for my car.
