Cake the food is okay, until you have pie or brownies which are SO much more substantial. Cake is just too fluffy.
"Symphony in C" is wonderful. |

I love cake the food, but I find Cake the band merely OK. I don't hate them, but I don't listen to them and I probably won't start anytime soon.
Why do you like Cake? What do you like about them? |

They have their moments. I rather like Pressure Chief, but agree a lot of their lesser songs sound pretty samey.

Yeah, Commissioning A Symphony in C has some pretty funny lyrics. A friend of mine played it for me one time thinking that I would get a kick out of the lyrics. I particularly liked: "It has a melody both happy and sad, built on Victoria's young triads." WTF?

I will say they have catchy bass lines - I rather like "Never There." But other than that, their songs are a bit uniform. I'd call them very 'radio.'

I love - and I mean LOVE - carrot cake. Moderately sweet sponginess, topped with a delectably rich cream cheese frosting...*drools*

Motorcade of Generosity was one of the first cds I ever bought, back when I was 10. It's the best cake album i've heard.
I think I was getting ready for school, and my parents were watching the Today Show. Cake was playing on it. That's how I decided to get the cd. |

One thing I really like about Cake, especially in Prolonging the Magic, is thier lyrics.
Some of them are unique and abstract, but really deep. The music is very enjoyable as well. Holla!

Yesss....fuck the band. Let's turn this thread back to the foodstuff. Carrot Cake is indeed the mightiest of all cakes. Also, Battenburg is pretty great.
Carrot Cake is my alltime favourite though. |
