Guess this is as good as any place to post such a rant.
I hate the fact that the majority of my music listening is done via MP3 player and external speaker. However, I'm so fortunate to work at night and at a place where I can enjoy such things. I really look forward to being at work! Podcast and live performances are my favorite MP3 files |

I update every single day. I have two iPod classics (160gb) and, just before bed every night, I put new music on them.
Yes, I love the day after a good update (today I have several new things to listen to, including the new Liars) but at this point it's become an obsessive compulsive ritual that keeps me up at night. I am never satisfied with a limited amount of music. I have a burning urge to stop at record stores every fucking day, and if I'm shopping at a Target or Fred Meyer, I'll search through their awful selection from start to finish, just on the off chance that they have a Nad album, or maybe a $4.00 Cypress Hill cd. Anyway, right now I'm enjoying recently loaded albums by Seekae Spectrals Velvet Teen Laura Viers Liars (New! 2014 Album!) Psychedelic Horseshit Black Bug Fire Engines Emeralds Dead Moon Blank Dogs Hah. That's what I can remember from the past few weeks I think I have a problem. |

I do not own an iPod or any such device. In fact, I don't even have a phone (mobile, landline, whatever). Come October, however, and provided that by then I won't be part of the Russian Federation, I'll be the happy owner of Patti Smith's limited edition chrome PonoPlayer. BITCHEN...

i have a 4gb Sansa clip with a 32 card in it, I am usually listening to stuff I haven't heard yet while bike commuting or while working in the garden, cooking etc at home. So about a quarter of what I hear is pretty great while the 3/4's isn't. Latest really enjoyable sets are Jimmy McGriff/Groove Holmes double band live 75 and also from the same year, the 75 full live Miles Davis mp3 archive

Just put some John Maus, Sage the Gemini, These New Puritans, Human Eye, Smoke DZA, Ave Luna, Traps, and some early DJ Koze on the Classic.
I need some new things to care about. Music is fun, but rarely does having it on a pocket device bring me any kind of general good fortune. |
