PiL when they had Jah and Keith were amazing. The creativness seemed to go downhill after they left in my opinion though. Some PiL shows from 1980 have shown up on Dime by the way in case any one that has an account doesn't know.

hmmm- after watching the videos i'd consider it. If it's nto gone. Btu then i really gotta think---my shoes' heels are dead dead shot and there's a few things i need to fix up on (computer and maybe a ne wgtr)/ But as far as music goes it seems worthy.
Perhaps... PiL is the reason why the sex pistols are both a joke and rightfully important/awesome.

If there was ever an album worth yourself plunking down 35+ for it, this is the album. In fact, 35+ is a damned good price. I paid nearly 50 for my 4Men w/ Beards reissue. Worth every penny. This is genius in record packaging, man.... |

The nice thing is the reissue should be around for a while. Maybe ask the store to hold it or order another copy for you. It's on the 4 Men with Beards label these days.

i like metal box, i bet it sounds a lot better on vinyl... i definitely don't listen to it very often, but i catch myself once in a while singing 'poptones'. i think the wobble quote about this album was that everybody in the studio was on different drugs... it certainly sounds like it.

Helter Skelter books is publishing a book about PiL only through the 3rd album in 2007.
Second Edition has been one of my favorite albums since the early 80's... Supposedly the mixes on Metal Box are different than Second Edition but no one can ever confirm it. I still need to hear "Pied Piper" it was on some compilation at the time and has only been compiled on that PiL boxset. The Peel sessions from that period are pretty awesome. If I had a PC at home I'd be downloading everything from that period of PiL off youtube before the copyright fetishists take it down. |
