my memory is not that good when it comes to individual song memories but I do have someones that stick out

10/24/02 Baltimore - Karenology - a great one through out that period, but this one stuck out due to the effect at the end of first part, maximum feedback, strobe and a small club, was perhaps the loudest I have seen them, also 10 years ago today this was and first meeting Jennifer

6/15/03 Pittsburgh - Sugar Kane - etherial effect during the middle drone section during the twilight of the evening looking at the Pittsburgh skyline from the downtain concert bowl

4/16/05 Hoboken - PCH - first set of the double header, Kim had been using the trumpet during the middle section for a while here, after they start gearing back into the song, Kim suddenly jumped into the audience rest next to us singing the rest of the song, that was amazing and extremely rare

7/28/07 Brooklyn - Cross The Breeze - the DDN show was anticipated immensely, but this put it into the stratosphere, one of their best played live

8/12/11 Brooklyn - over half the set at least

other memories are more visual and can't link to specific songs, like The Hollywood Bowl show, etc

Prospect Park '10
Mote. (I heard the most amazing sound come out of Thurston's guitar towards the end during the last "freakout")
Expressway. (fhueihieruhfwhiuhf)

Vic Theatre '09
Tom Violence. (My first taste of live EVOL. I was barely able to contain myself. My panties were soooo wet)
Hey Joni. (Towards the middle you know...where Lee goes "KICK IT!" the guitars were perfect. I heard every sound so fucking clearly, UNLIKE THE OTHER TIMES I HEARD IT. I couldn't have asked for a better performance of the song though...)

Basically all of Patrick's plus...

"Rain on Tin," Chicago, 7/29/04
"Hoarfrost," DC, 5/7/98
"Radical Adults Lick Godhead Style," DC, 6/30/03
"The Burning Spear," Philly, 4/21/01

ROT and RALGS I wrote about in the book...with "Hoarfrost," that was my first ever SY show after 8 years of fan-worship, and getting to hear the majority of my favorite album live was fantastic, but especially that song. I could pretend it was just me in the 9:30 Club for that relatively short snatch of time.

"The Burning Spear" came late in the setlist at that Philly gig and I was so excited I may have actually squealed. Yeesh!

In 1998, they opened a show at Irving Plaza in NYC with Anagrama. I remember being surprised, but it was a definite highlight. That whole show was great. The "A Thousand Leaves" material was awesome.

A few other live favorites, off the top of my head:

Cotton Crown - First song I ever heard them play live, at the Academy in NYC, June 1993. Pure heaven.

Junkie's Promise - Not one of my favorite songs at all, but it felt better live. I loved the ending.

Washing Machine - This was awesome live.

Rain on Tin - I wasn't there, but the acoustic performance from a Bridge School show is my favorite rendition of this song. (In general, I'm not a huge Rain on Tin or Murray Street fan.)

Pink Steam - Saw this live about six times. Never failed to disappoint.

Many others...

Overall, A Thousand Leaves and Washing Machine are the two records that translate best on stage, in my opinion. I never felt that Daydream Nation was done justice by live performance. I consider it to be a creature of the studio. (And it's probably my favorite SY album.)

they opened brixton on the nurse tour (1st time i'd seen them) with I Love You Golden Blue. very cool intro and one of my favourite songs from Nurse. it was magical.
and they played PCH in the encoure with Kims trumpet which was prety fucking amazing too.

and on the eternal tour i remember being lost in Masage the History. and of course Death Valley got the whole place rocking balistic which was a fantastic close to the show

Lucky for you that the peanut butter-smearing came AFTER the coyote

"Silver Rocket" - August 5th, 1995 - Lakewood Amphitheater, Atlanta: I believe it was the first time I saw this song live and the mid-song sonic melt-down caused my brain to do the same.

"Starfield Road" - October 15th, 1995 - The Roxy, Atlanta: Not one of my favorite SY songs, but Lee's controlled/swirling feedback landscape danced off the rafters and made my jaw drop.

"Rain On Tin" - August 5th, 2002 - Variety Playhouse, Atlanta: After a "Cotton Crown" opener(!) that night, SY absolutely blew up the place with a killer version of "Rain On Tin". I don't know if it was where I was standing, but the sound/experience was damn near perfect.

Can't believe I forgot "Silver Rocket" at Terminal 5 a few years back.
That made me want to break into pieces and pinball around the venue.

Second half of Washing Machine is still to this day probably my all-time live experience highlight for life. Saw it at a Lollapalooza, before the album's release...so it was completely new to me. Plus it was my young 16 yr old self's first SY show at all. Seeing that and the Diamond Sea in the same set...my god...way to have the cherry popped. Naysayers will disagree...but I still consider that one of the golden eras of live SY.

In fact, inspired by my own post to go back and watch the 1996 Rockpalast show...and it's just so...damn...flawless!

Edit: I was at the Dallas Lolla.
