http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/bla...sitemID=158656 Fuckin' STOKED for this one. Loved Watershed, Ghost Reveries and the Deliverance/Damnnation pairing, this one is apparently completely devoid of any death metal growls or riffs, and is all prog/fusion oriented........ Which I think could be a good thing. The "soft" album they did was in fact a little soft for me, but if this is Watershed with more weird/prog stuff I'm really excited. And the cover!!!!! Looks stellar........ Hot contender for record of the year for me already....... |

The Watcher, if you like Opeth then listen to maudlin Of The Well's 'Bath' album. It does what Opeth does but in a way better manner.

I actually kinda like Opeth, but I agree with Derek, check out stuff like Maudlin of the Well and then go to stuff like Kayo Dot and Time of Orchids and Make a Rising sometime, if you want. Might just blow your mind.

You know how Opeth's music seems very cut and paste, with few parts actually correlating to each other? That's all well and good but I like maudlin Of The Well because they take the soft/heavy approach whilst having a natural progression throughout the parts. Also, the soft parts don't sound metal and it's almost like they genre hop without being completely obvious like in a Mr. Bungle way. I dunno, check 'em out. 'Bath' is in my top 5 albums of all time.
