I loved the Wild Flag album. Just effin' great rock music. I'd put it ahead of all the SK albums except One Beat and No Cities to Love, which are perfect. The Woods close behind.

The Hot Rock is an interesting choice for #1... not what I would have expected. But it's got some of their best tracks, for sure.
I don't have the patience or memory to list all that shot out. I haven't even heard some of those albums. But my favorite S-K albums are Dig Me Out, The Hot Rock and .... actually, I'd probably have to put No Cities To Love at #3 at the moment. |

From a music critic perspective The Hot Rock is definitely not their best album, but from my own personal perspective its not just my fav SK related record, its in my top 5 ALL TIME for any record by any band! Quote:

I like Quasi. Never really went all out for Wild Flag like a lot of folks did, but they definitely made some good rock in an era when not a lot of good rock was coming out (not unlike now). Loved, loved loved the Corin Tucker Band.
But there are a few titles on this list I need to check out. |

Also i think Kill My Blues might honestly be some of Corin's best work ever i am just too attached to SK records to rank it above them but

Hey that's exactly what I was going to say. Except it's been so long since I heard the album that I was worried I wasn't remember things accurately. But yes, that was my impression too. Wild Flag live was really something to behold. Saw them only once, but one of the best rock shows I've ever seen. I was surprised because I was an SK live nut, and really only saw WF because of their association. But they were surprisingly balls out powerful. Kinda like seeing Viet Cong because, y'know, Women was seminal, and being astonished that they actually kick all holy ass. |

During the SK hiatus Wild Flag shows were my fix.. and i agree that they were a FORCE.
Have you seen Ex Hex? Mary was so timid in Wild Flag her solo shows that i was blown away at how kick ass and outgoing she is in Ex Hex

Have you heard her 2005 solo album, also called Ex Hex? I love it, as well as the followup The Shapes We Make. Fantastic guitar playing |

I love this list! By the way, you got the full EP version of Age of Backwards from me yes? I uploaded it and posted here a few years ago but I saved the four extra tracks that Carrie released via her NPR blog back in 2009.. indeed releasing those was the process that created Wild Flag!! PM is you don't have those other four songs I will send them to you mos def Quote:
Same as T&B, PM me if you don't have the other four tracks which make it an EP rather than an maxi-single

Man that was just such a fun record! I think of all their records this is the most straight up fun record, its not too serious even while it has some serious tracks. It feels like a "no pressure" record of tunes they just wanted to put out! I mean Dig Me Out was heavy, and The Hot Rock was an art-rock masterpiece, but All Hands is definitely a fun interlude between The Hot Rock and One Beat

Yeah, AHOTBO surprised me at first with how loose and borderline bouncy it sounded. So little distortion! But soon I was humming those songs all over the damn place. Admittedly, it's the SK album I've listened to the least. But it has its place in their catalogue for sure. |
