The greatest album from the greatest band turns 40 this year and it's influence as only grown larger over the years. Its hard to think of a record back then (or even today) that's as diverse and is so rewarding upon multiple listens. "Helter Skelter" is still one of the hardest songs that was ever recorded pointing far ahead for punk and heavy metal.
NPR is also doing a special this week about how the album came together, check it out -------> http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...oryId=97391032 So to keep this a continuing thread, discuss your favorite song or what you think is the most important/influential

Awesome... Trout Mask Replica doesn't turn 40 into next year though. Oh well, no reason we shouldn't celebrate early! |

"Sexy Sadie" kills me. And "I'm So Tired." Ugh! Such a great record.

I'm stuck firmly in the 'would've-made-a-great-single-album' camp. As it is I always think it's an album with some great songs, but far too much filler to really qualify as one of their best.

The whole album is brilliant as an album. It's probably my favorite for the fact that it finds the band splintering and sort of making like 4 solo EP's and compiling them into a double album. Haha. Like KISS. Or the Melvins.
