here is some more info from my buddy in columbus.....
" thruston show is at 'cafe bourbon street', which is this dive just slightly off campus here. supposed to be an 8pm show, but they're only letting in the first 100 people, starting at 5pm. dunno how that's even going to work out, because i've seen shows there with 15 people, and i still couldn't see the stage. and i'm tall." he is tall...i'm short...and...well...whatever

Thurston Moore at Bourbon Street
8/23/06 Another news flash: Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore will be appearing at the tiny lil' rock n roll dive known as Cafe Bourbon Street on Sunday. He's collaborated with Leslie Keffer, a noise musician from Athens, before, and they will be doing so on Bourbon Street's tiny stage. Should be a noisy time: Also appearing will be local talent Times New Viking (noise pop saviors), Lambsbread (heralded noise rock newcomers), Diguitras (not sure who they are, but they undoubtedly make noise) and more TBA. Show starts at 9, but you'll need to show up super early if you want to get in. According to a MySpace bulletin from manager Adam Fleischer, they might sell tickets. UPDATE 8/25: Doors are at 7 p.m., and only 100 people are getting in, so be early and be vigilant. Moore will be in town for the Flaming Lips/Sonic Youth/Magic Numbers show the next day at the LC Pavilion. It's amazing that he will be appearing at one of the biggest venues in town and one of the smallest. Monday promises to be swell, but Sunday should be horribly uncomfortable and, well, awesome. |

great show, graveyards played too & were amazing as usual(despite a lack of johnny coorz..)best lambsbread set i've ever seen, times new viking were really tight despite some problems w/ gear, thurston & leslie rode a killer wave of skronking noise to valhalla...missed the very first band, didn't get there 'til 9pm & had to talk our way in, anyone catch 'em?!

Columbus people:
Do you know of a source for finding out about noise/out shows (besides those @ Skylab)? I'm local, but out of the loop... |

Not sure of any source. I usually find out about shows from people telling me, "oh did you know ____ is playing ____" or from myspace bulletins and so on.
Swordheaven just performed last week at the carabar with deadsea and that was pretty good. |
