can anyone spot similarities between these two musical pieces.
JP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCRKeHTlMRU & TM http://www.amazon.com/Solo-Acoustic-.../dp/B004L9EWDC Thurstons is a little higher on the insanity index.

Sorta... I think it has to do with the use of "open tuning", I think Page is playing 6 string perhaps tuned to DADGAD (which is the tuning used on Zeppelin's Kashmir)... not sure what Thurston is tuned to for 12-string on that recording, but he's recently been using DDAF#AD (like on the Eternal).
SO the likely 2 tunings DADGAD and DDAF#AD are pretty similar, except Thurston uses unison on the low D thus sacrificing the next D and tuning down a half step on the G to F#...

I've been playing in DADGAD for like a year or so now, it's pretty fun but i need to find my notebook with my other tunings soon...

I've also been using DADGAD for the last year or two more than any other tuning, wrote a few things in that tuning... alot of the Eternal can be played in this tuning too, or approximated. been also using DAEAAD (an Unwound tuning)
i've recently re-explored back to DADABE & CGDGCD which i used years ago in my old band and stopped using them... though CGDGCD is still abit too one dimensional sounding to me...
