there is a band that deserves more attention on this board. when i say a band is perfect, i mean generally that said band has a certain idea or vision of what they want to do, and then are able to perfectly execute this vision through the music. in this regard, game theory is a PERFECT band. no indie band did jangly power pop than them, just listen to 'lolita nation', one of the most pitch perfect, well produced, clean sounding, just mesmerizing pop records ive ever heard. unfortunately the cd of 'lolita' and their other records can go upwards of 75 bucks, but you can prolly download this off of most torrent sites id imagine. because you really must hear this band, no matter what music youre into, because regardless of whether you like it or not you have to at least be enamored to how well executed the music is. theres so much discussion about 80s indie, but these guys are almost always forgotten in common indie discussion, like thinking fellers union local 282 after them.

My college roommate was OBSESSED with Lolita Nation, which was the new album at the time. I liked it OK, but couldn't dig on it at the level he did. I had no idea it was a big money LP now. They definitely had some depth to them, though, and very distinct in their style. Maybe I need to re-investigate a little.

can i make this any clearer! download LOLITA NATION!!!! now!!! its a perfect record, pretty much the best straight "indie rock/pop" ive ever heard. and there is also a bit of experimental guitat noodling, for all you unconventional types. its just great music. after lolita, get 'two steps from the middle age' and 'distortion'.

I'll reccomend sparta locals as well for some really great indie stuff with tons of great riffs.

Pretty crazy album, that lolita nation. Definitely see the Thinking Fellers comparison, actually, in all the short little songs and weird production at points. Was taken aback by the dominating keyboard presence on some songs.

Very good songwriters. Lead singer sounds like that dude from Placebo at times haha..

Oh. I thought this was a thread about The Roots album. Which struck me as odd. Because it's one of their worst albums.

rofl. Same.

Any chance of a link to this? I always trust yr tastes, batreleaser. I remember you used to have the Bird Dog album cover in yr sig (I'm pretty sure it was you anyway) and I downloaded it a day after. It was fantastic. Just wanted to thank you for that one. :7)

yknow who the singer sounds like to me? ted leo. and i have always thought that ted leo has an absolutley INCREDIBLE voice, such a huge range for a punk guy. problem is, the music is terrible and boring. so this is like those amazing ted leo vocals over the most amazing music ive ever heard.

im posting here because not enough people have checked this band out yet. please listen and give me some assurance my new band obsession is not unfounded.

Wow. Talk about a group who's name I haven't heard in like 14 years. Next thing, you'll start talking about Tex and the Horseheads or Plasticland!
