On paper, SY was 25 years old in 2007, making them eligible for the Rock and Roll hall of fame.
So why haven't they been chosen? They've been nominated, I believe, at least once (I checked out futurerocklegends.com or whatever and saw that) but not selected. Do you think they should be in there? Why, or why not? Velvet Underground were selected the first year they were eligible, I believe, and one could argue that SY has had a more direct influence than even they did. Any thoughts? |

REAL rock n roll bands are not a part of that poser-club.

Honestly, and not to be rude or anything but, I've never understood what's the big deal with the RNR hall of fame. The way I see it, it's just like the grammies, lots of flash and no meaning at all.

Yeah, I agree that the hall of fame is bullshit.
I actually don't think SY has any place in that fucked up shithole pantheon of supposedly influential artists. I know there are some great bands in there... there would have to be, because even at the mainstream level you find a great band every once in a while. But does SY have a place next to Michael Jackson and Jim Morrison?? Fuck no. In some respects, they might have a place next to the Beatles, but only about .009% of Americans know that. |

I feel like the RHRHOF is both total bullshit, and awesome. If ever in Cleveland, I will be visiting the museum full of awesome gear & artifacts. I loathe award ceremonies/shows. I like how JERRY GARCIA sent a cardboard cutout of himself to recieve the award when the Grateful Dead were inducted, that was so punk.

Contrary to popular belief, the Dead were at least 60% punk at heart. I love that fucking band. |

I'm not sure why Sy has been snubbed, but it's not just because they aren't famous enough.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...Fame_inductees There are a few names on this list that in no way qualify as famous (though, of course, most do). "Clyde McFadder" anyone? |

Clyde McPhatter, singer for the Drifters, long and influential solo career? His voice is famous enough, forget the name.
