Government Issue Singer Assaulted

I know there are some hardcore fans on here, so I thought I'd pass this bad news on.

I just learned from my Flickr friend here in Portland (hyperlinked to her photo and story about John) that John Stabb of Government Issue was severely assaulted on July 17th by a group of teenagers outside his home.

There's an online benefit to help deal with his major medical costs from reconstructing his face.

I've been listening to abit of GI lately and recently bought the Banned in DC book too - Great book.

Given the racial mix up of D.C., it was probably some very poor black kids (though it isn't necessarily a race thing, this happened to friends of mine in Tacoma from a mixed race group, and they had a friend actually killed) in a gang who have grown with no example of conscience or responsibility whatsoever. Sadly this type of thing is way on the rise, it happened to a friend of mine in Portland too, he woke up in the hospital not even remembering all they'd done to him.

GI fucking rule(d), probably my favourite 80's hardcore band, after Minor Threat, of course.
