I tend to try different ones out while I'm at work, since I mostly listen to the albums I've got when I'm at home. So, post some stations you dig, so I can benefit from your impeccable musical taste.
I was down with Soma FM - Indie pop for a little while, but they get repetitive and, well, too poppy. However, another one of Soma's stations, Secret Agent, is pretty good. Plays some great jazz. Both of these can be found at http://www.somafm.com Another one that's hit or miss, but mostly good, is http://www.woxy.com |

www.wcsb.org - i think it's one of the best radio stations which you can hear on the Internet, they play every type of music from indie-rock, noise, jazz, folk to some freakout experiments, highly reccomended;
www.wfmu.org is also worth checking out

I know a few:
For a station that'll play Sonic Youth and stuff (email a request!), try out KEXP. They have excellent archived half-hour shows too, which comprise of interviews with a band and tracks played live in the studio. Need I say the Sonic Youth one is good? If you like a bit of crazy hard DJ techno stylee, how about Samurai fm of Tokyo? For New Orleans jazz and blues, there's the one and only WWOZ. A good bunch of people at this station, so check them out. I've just put this on the shortwave radio thread, but here it is again: for serious spoken-word broadcasting from around the world, check out some of the stations at World Radio Network 1.

Yeah, I listen to that on occasion too, great station. I used to work at my university's radio station, and I'll never forget what a pain in the ass it was to wade through all the demos people submitted. You found diamonds in the rough on occasion, but man, was there a lot of shit. So to those who rake through the musical dungpile for our listening pleasure, I salute you. |
