The custom Dinosaur Jr Toyota Yaris designed by band front man J Mascis for the Urban Outfitters and Free YR Radio benefit tour is now up for charity auction! At the end of the benefit tour J Mascis donated this custom-made sports car to the MA Center. MA Center is a 501-(c)3 non-profit sister organization to the MA Math, a UN recognized NGO founded by Amma, a world-renowned spiritual leader and humanitarian. Amma’s previous endeavors include substantial disaster relief efforts during both the 2004 Asian Tsunami and Katrina, amongst many others. Amma has also won several humanitarian awards and recognitions, including the Gandhi-King Award for Non-Violence. (For more information on Amma and her projects, please visit www.amma.org ) Among Amma’s many charitable activities is the Farmer Relief Project. This project aims at helping the poorest farmers (and their families) in India gain economic security through sustainable practices and diversifying their means of support. Specifically, the Project seeks to reduce the suicide rate among poor Indian farmers suffering from debt and crop failure in the states of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnatika by providing scholarships for educating children, vocational training for women and helping the farmers make the transition to more sustainable practices. This UN-partnered project aims to raise 200 crore rupees (approximately $400,000) in aid. To help reach this goal the MA Center is hosting its 7th annual web auction and dedicating all of the proceeds towards this effort. Dinosaur Jr’s donation of this car is a gift to the cause, and will raise thousands of dollars towards the education of 100,000 children and the support of 5000 impoverished families. All funds raised by the sale of the car will go to benefit this project, and under the 501 (c)3 status of MA Center, any dollar amount above current fair-market value is eligible for a donation tax write-off. In the event of an overseas buyer, shipment can be discussed. If you would like to bid on this car,CLICK HERE. Bidding ends 11:59pm (PST) on Saturday, February 7, 2009. The minimum bid for the car is $14,400, which is $350 below blue book value. |

I find this mighty strange as it was only a couple days ago I saw my first purple bus and instantly thought of J Mascis! It's that same shade and everything.

It looks really cheesey. Like something I would have loved in 5th grade.
I was wondering when they were going to do something more lame than the Kurt/Mascis shoe models... |

atsonicpark, I am yet to hear your reasoning for why you dislike dino. Not that there's anything wrong with disliking a band, I'm just curious.

Does there have to be a specific reason? I just don't like their music, usually. I like a song or two... let's see.. I like "Freak Scene" except for the stupid lyrics, "Let It Ride", "The Post", "Little Fury Things" and maybe "The Lung". They're okay in small doses but usually I just find them boring. Nothing special in the least. Also, I usually don't like guitar solos. Most of their shit is TERRIBLE, especially the one with "Feel the Pain" on it... Without a Sound, or whatever. Just a really uninspired, boring, flat, monotonous, ugly band. I can see their appeal, but I guess I've just heard a thousand great rock bands, and this isn't one of them. The only reason I've heard so much by them is because my ex-girlfriend loved them and she burnd me all their cd's a long time ago. That has nothing to do with anything, by the way, she liked Pavement too and I still like Pavement!
I'd much rather listen to Number Girl, which I think I will do right now. |

Fair enough, I can't stand Freak Scene to be honest. Everything after Where you been? was pretty bland but I'd consider You're living all over me a classic.

You're Living All Over Me certainly sounds good. The lo-fi production, I mean. However, I just can't get past the bland songwriting long enough to listen to the whole thing in one sitting usually. I think "Bug" has a lot better songs on it. But either way, those 2 albums are the only even halfway-decent ones. The rest suck balls.

I like Dinosaur Jr up to 'Where You Been'. I'd be happy to crash that car while driving around all the people who still debate this band though.

Oh and there have been no pictures of Prince posted on this forum in a while, so here's one for you.
