haven't seen it, but most modern comedy is terrible.. ben stiller, will ferrel, owen wilson, those people are not funny at all...
Like, I kinda liked Napolean Dynamite.. and the 40 year old virgin.. I thought they were pretty decent movies. But they didn't make me laugh. So yeah.. |

I thought the 40 Year Old Virgin was absolute dogshit. But I don't really go for much "slapstick" comedy. I was really disappointed, because I loved Freaks and Geeks (Judd Apatow TV series).
You're a moron for even having gone to see Knocked Up. The previews were more than indicative of its worthlessness. Shame on you. |

Freaks and Geeks is undoubtedly the best thing Judd Apatow has ever been involved in. I really enjoyed Knocked Up, but the previews for it were terrible. They pretty much picked the least funny parts of the movie to show, which is odd. But I see that a lot when it comes to comedies in general. Some of the baby-related jokes in Knocked Up were too predictable (like Rogen thinking he could accidentally "poke" the baby during sex). Also, Martin Starr, who played Bill Haverchuck on F&G, wasn't given a good enough role in Knocked Up. He's obviously capable of being hilarious, so why not actually use him for more than just a few jokes about his facial hair?

i was kinda disappointed with virgin...i do like carrell though, so it was ok...stiller and ferrel have their moments, but can also be grating at times...owen wilson's speech is so off-kilter that he works most of the time, and even when he doesnt, he's at least not annoying...

I am so sick of Ben Stiller, and Will Ferrell too for that matter.

yeh but you really cant blame em...if i could put stuff like that out, and make whatever they make (im sure at least 20 mil or so)....and do it consistently...why the hell not? id be the one laughing all the way to the bank...and when i get older and less kid/teen-friendly and already have more than enough millions, i can do some interesting films...not sure if any of us can say we wouldnt since we arent in their shoes....

i'm trying to think of actors who i actually find funny...
robin williams is obviously a comedic genius.. christopher walken is, though i dunno if it's intentional.. dennis hopper and robert deniro are hilarious, even though they're not comedians... dennis leary is funny... uh....... scoff if you want, but jim carrey was pretty funny and charistmatic.. so, yeah, judging from this post, the last funny movie i saw was either true romance, awakenings, the majestic, or a deleted scene from natural born killers. (see? it's hard to be funny!) (if you even got my joke) |

i love steve buscemi too... i dunno, most actors that make me laugh aren't "comedians" by nature, I guess... |

yeah, i've always hated ben stiller, will ferrell, jimmy fallon, etc. i really don't find them funny at all.
i don't know what knocked up is, but i love freaks and geeks, it was so amazing. napoleon dynamite i kept watching and waiting to laugh my ass off but i kept waiting, the dance scene is the reason that movie is good. and robin williams, his movies suck but put him on a stage and give him a microphone and dude kills!!! there's lots of awesome comedians, not many new ones though. |

I saw it. It was alright. Had some funny bits.
The sex scene with Rock Lobster playing in the back was weird. |
