i've been underwhelmed by the recent AF tracks. i don't know if that's because of their quality or mine.

Holy fuck, I just listened to track 1 at npr and it grabbed me right away - very pleasantly surprised. It flowed, Man. Everything that Neon Fucking Bible wasn't.

Meh, track 10 has a bit of throwaway quality to it, but I don't hate it. Maybe it really works as track 10 though.

Is this band pretty popular? They're pretty decent for a popular band. I could never see myself sitting down and actually listening to one of their boring ass albums again, but I thought Funeral was pretty cool. It's pleasant enough stuff.

I've listened to a few tracks from the album and wasn't really blown away by these... They were pretty much ok, except for "Month of May" which I think is a really cool song and at least, it's something different.

neon Bible wasn't that bad. Intervention is a great track. Neon Bible ok as well. I could do without Body is a Cage...
I could do without the fake french accent

okay I'm reviving this thread I want to see what you guys actually think. I think half the songs (the suburbs, modern man, we used to wait, ready to start etc) are brilliant and the rest are kinda snoozers

The record is definitely not as good as everyone says... I absolutely LOVE some of the songs on here (Month of May, Empty Room, Modern Man) but the album is
1) too long 2) has too much filler, especially in the end 3) doesn't have one single song as good as the worst song on Funeral. So yeah, I would rate it a low 3/5. I haven't lost all hope in Arcade Fire yet... Next album, maybe...

they're like one of these bamds i dont bother with... too much buzz.. thoguh i made this mistake with battles and recently discovered how good they are; However, any band that is getting a lot of talk 9s susceptible t5o a lot of bullshit. people don't know what they're talking about. i agree with some SOIME sentiments here thogh.

Pretty great album cover. Off first track alone, sounds really cool too.

I think it is a very very good album, with the best opening 2 songs....evar!!! There are 3-4 songs here that could have been left out. But the other 12-13 are BRILLIANT imho. I think the cheesy instrumentation for Sprawl II is ironic. It's almost elevator music backing.....but it's a fantastic song anyway, hahaha....

Anyway, I'm back to loving AF, after hating Neon Fucking Bible. They are not preaching on this, or trying too hard.
Oh Man, the first 2 tracks though.....blows me away. And the remainder of the album doesn't exactly tail off from that. The reprise at the end actually makes sense and sounds great. I think lyrically this is a very good album, although I've heard many state the opposite. "If I was I scared, I would, and if I was pure, you know I would, and if I was yours, but I'm not." THAT'S JUST FUCKING BRILLIANT.
