anyone have a policy with this company, either individual or from work, and if so, is it any good? Are they reliable or are they just selling woof tickets?

When it comes to dental insurance quote websites most of us want something that is easy to understand, user-friendly and affordable. Of course, being reliable is also a good trait for a company to have. That's why we were excited to include Delta Dental in our dental quote website reviews. They are the option of choice for many big employers, so the ability for consumers to buy direct is a pretty big deal. Wondering if you can afford the same dental coverage some of the biggest and companies provide for their employees? Here's the scoop...

What's New?
  • Dental plans for seniors and retirees.
  • Dental network for providers and practices.
  • Individual and family plans available.
Our Favorite Feature:

Our reviews team did like the fact that DeltadentalIns.com specifically has information, services, and products dedicated to senior customers and retirees. We do have to give them credit for this, as many of the dental insurance companies tend to forget that senior clients will often have specific dental care needs.

The DeltaDentalIns.com Experience:

The DeltaDentalIns.com website is easy to navigate and very user-friendly. The quotes the website provided us were detailed and clearly listed what fees we would have to pay for particular services. The co-payment costs ranged from $0 for an oral evaluation, to $325 for a full cast metal crown, or $2500 for certain orthodontic services.

While the option to select a monthly or annual payment option is useful, make sure you want to keep the coverage for a year prior to paying that year in full. If you decide to cancel your service and you have already paid the annual fee, you will not receive a refund on that fee. To receive the refund you must request it within the first month of service.

We found application processing times and coverage effective dates to be pretty standard. If DeltaDentalIns.com receives a complete application by the 21st of the month, your plan will be activated by the 1st of the following month. Otherwise you'll need to wait till the next month for coverage to begin.

We liked the fact that, in addition to providing quotes, the DeltaDentalIns.com site offers other features, such as a search box that allows you to find a local dental service provider and a "fun” page just for kids, teaching them about dental health through the use of games and fun activities.

The biggest problem with DeltaDentalIns.com is the fact that they only offer direct coverage in eight states. Residents of other states must work with a Delta Dental "Member Company" to get coverage.

DeltadentalIns.com Features:
  • Plan options in 15 states and DC.
  • Individual and family plans.
  • Seniors plans.
  • TRICARE Retiree plan services.
  • AARP members services.
  • Plan locators by state.
  • Free quotes.
  • 1 month refund policy.

DeltadentalIns.com Customer Service:

The DeltaDentalIns.com website does not have a customer service department per say, they do have a press room which provides facts and information about DeltadentalIns. They also have sales departments staffed with agents to speak to you regarding a Delta Dental policy purchase. We found the number to be staffed with a knowledgeable salesperson who (albeit a little pushy) was able to answer the questions we asked.

Upside:

Trusted company, competitive prices, senior-specific plans available.

Downside:

Very limited regional availability.

i have delta. we never pay a penny for cleanings twice a year. we pay a 50 dollar deductible for minor/major. 20% after that for minor and 50% for major. it's the best dental insurance there is. although those numbers are pretty standard.

you do max out in a year's time typically. so usually they won't spend more than 1000 dollars per customer per year.

Is there an Alpha Dental Insurance? I'd play it safe and go with them.
