damn this cat's been in a lotta good bands. coachwhips, burmese, pink and brown, the ohshees, zeigenbock kopf, the hospitals, and of course, landed.
so, i was wondering what people think about this dude. a great talent? or just a guy who plays in a lotta good bands? i might be biased, but judging from his resume, and his solo work in the ohshees, i gotta say this dude is a hell of a musician. landed is one of the best american noise rock bands of all time (and one of my favorite bands), coachwhips's spastic noise punk was great, zeigenbock kopf is hilarious, and burmese is one of the best bands ive heard of recent times. however, this dude should probably just have stuck with a few bands instead of countless. i mean, hospitals sounds exactly the same to me coachwhips, and seemed pointless. but anyways, dude's got a hell of a resume.

I've never heard ohshees or zeigenbock kopf but all the rest are excellent.Oddly, I'm not a HUGE hospitals fan, though I count Coachwhips amongst my favorite bands. ALL HANDS ON THE FUCKING CONTROLS NOW.But anyway.. sure, great musician.

ohshhes is dwyer's solo project of just home lo fi recordings but eventually turned into a full band
zeigenbock komf is descirbed as a faux gay german electro industrial noise idm band, haha, theyre more of a joke band than anything. landed is defintley my fave outta them. ive seen them play live a few times too, fucking amazing every time.

ocs was actually the solo thing, Oh-sees is a trio, sometimes a quartet. I like Get your Hands on the Controls, particularly Wheelchair!

hehe, he lives around the corner from my girlfriends house. we always see him at the same coffee spot. i've only seen the oh sees live once, opening for erase errata, and i was not overly impressed. but it was pretty fun. i haven't heard any of his other bands. what do you guys recommend?

That must've been a while back and a few incarnations and styles ago. You should definitely see them again for the first time. Thee Oh Sees are just absolutely godly live whether they play up to the crowd's excitement at more of a punk-vibe show, or vibe out in a more psychedelic way at a more West Coasty float-with-the-breeze-kinda show. Where to start recordings-wise?? That's not so easy, really. The discography is dizzying and ranges through a lotta styles. Many of the records sold out before they were ever shipped. So, it might be best to just suggest picking up whichever one's available conveniently enough. The Master's Bedroom... is probably the consensus pick for starter suggestions, though. The Zork's Tape Bruise singles collection LP plus bonus CD of even more stuff would also suit that purpose fine. Long-time fans who were spoiled by the consistently upward trajectory of the quality of songwriting and brilliance of the production and arrangement and perfect mental zoning of the recording session were sorta disappointed by last year's Help. But that's still a fine album, albeit more of a "rock" record. Of course, certain moments of it are worthy of the loftiest praise, such as the sublime panflute solo that plays out the end of "Meat Step Lively". If you think that Thee Oh Sees are not Dwyer's best band of his life so far, you are not looking at it objectively. You can have nostalgia for earlier projects because they all gave great live performances (you really can expect nothing less from him ever) and they all have some merit on record as well, but they were all much more single-track-minded, and all examples of doing what comes easy for a young fellow who was living from one party to the next. Oh Sees at their best are an outstanding synergy of spontaneity and exquisite craft.
