My life partner and I are still desperately trying to map our escape from the land of the Bible and the Confederate flag.
Promising prospects now include Denver, Albuquerque, and Walla Walla. Yes, Walla Walla. It's actually a very cool little town. My partner was flown into Denver last week for a day-long interview, does the same this week for Albuquerque, and had a phone interview last week for Walla Walla. Pray for us, people.

Well good luck and I hope you get what you want.
Presumably you work from home and so you wouldn't both need to find a job in whichever town you move to? |

Theoretically, no. I've been working as a freelance writer for the past year, and doing okay, so my career is now fairly portable. I'm pretty sure I can even keep some of the clients I've worked with here.

Yeah, I don't much care about the record store aspect this time around. I just want out of here. South Carolina and the deep South generally pretty much just all around suck.
Denver has at least one or two good record stores, as I remember from recent visits. Not sure about the others.

Ohhh, yeahhh.... Desperate is probably an understatement. I experienced less culture shock when I moved to Germany. But then there they didn't have the audacity to raise the swastika flag of their failed racist regime... unlike the South Carolina state representatives who to this day proudly fly the Confederate flag in front of the State House in downtown Columbia.
We're just not with our peeps down here. In other words, we don't fit in with the good ol' boy redneck crowd, if you can imagine that.

Denver is a nice place. Avoid Pueblo, though.
