This is one of those noise albums that sounds like nothing on the first listen, and then on the second listen sinks its hooks into you, and every time you play it thereafter you hear new things. Swirling, psychedelic, jazz-punk. Or something like that. Anyway, local noise boys (Iowa City) make good. Anyone else familiar?

Yes, this is an ace, ace record. Check out their Mythos Folkways records if you like the free-er side of their stuff. All their records are great.

Will do. There stuff's a little hard to find in the stores, oddly enough, even in their home town. I might have to do some online ordering. I like this record more and more each time I play it.
Maybe it's the influence of the cover, but it has this odd Blair Witch vibe. That lost in the woods feeling and your mind is going.

I'm going to check them out next weekend, I think.
Should be pretty great if the recordings I've heard are any indication. |

Excellent album and a great live band as well. I don't have the vinyl version though, but the CDR version they sold on tour prior to the LP release. But I guess the contents are the same.
The only other one I heard is Is Night People and that's nowhere near as good. |

They're often lumped into the Local/Midwest section at record shops here, but I've yet to actually hear them.

Yes. I hate it myself. And when I DJ and try to enter it into the database, there are always glitches because I invariably spell it wrong.
