i keep hearing that my bloody valentine took some of their sound ideas from them, can anyone point me in the direction of what album that is?

Probably Victorialand.
I think the main similarity between them and My Bloody Valentine is incomprehensible lyrics because their sound is either dominated by keyboards or overdriven bass (unless someone who knows more about the band can point me in the direction of an album that proves otherwise too?) It's a shame they never did an album which was all stripped down like Pearly Dewdrops Drops. |

I voted for Victorialand, only because it was the first album of their's that I bought. They're a band I have no strong feelings for either way.

It's really a three way tie for me between Treasure, Victorialand, and the Moon and the Melodies. I voted Victorialand though, because I had an awesome acid trip listening to it in the '80s when it was new. I also like that you could play the '45 vinyl on '33 and it sounded great that way too.

Garlands - I have happy memories of the first time I heard it and it's still one of my favourite albums of all time.

I went for Blue Bell Knoll, but it could have been Victorialand too.

I agree, it's the one that may be the closest to shoegazing in sound. |

Head Over Heels for sure. It's got the best mixture of the somewhat more aggressive early stuff and the later dreampop

People were moronically dismissive of the band's last two albums, but I loved them to bits, especially Milk and Kisses. They both feature the band's best work, in my opinion.

Treasure, followed by The Pink Opaque (I know it's a comp, but whatever) and Victorialand not too far behind.
Amazing band, really. Liz Fraser has one of the most gorgeous voices ever and Robin Guthrie one of the sweetest guitar tones ever. I love just about everything they did. I'm so tired, else I'd write more. Love love love this band. |
