I would love to see this show released on dvd (or VHS) officially by sonic youth. It has all the workings of a great live video document. The atmosphere, the time period, the music. I dream I dream this whole video recording will one day be released by sonic youth, wouldnt it be nice?

I'm always psyched to see early sonic pics/footage, more than current stuff to tell you the truth. This is awesome. I immediately thought of that pic in the sonic death booklet.
If they don't release this entirely, hopefully they will compile a decent amount of early live footage for the pre geffen videos dvd. |

breaking news from 2 years ago:
http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/page/news/2004/01/26 Lee Ranaldo tells Pitchfork there may be other archival treasures which may see a DVD release this year, including a "still-never-released 1986 USA Evol Tour Movie which I shot and which is 95 percent finished-- there were some screenings of the ruff cut last year. Also the [Screaming Fields of Sonic Love] video, which documents our videos during the 'indie years'," which was released on VHS back in 1995. Ranaldo also hinted at the possibility of some live Sonic Youth DVD's and told us that Dave Markey, director of 1991: The Year Punk Broke, is preparing an amazing two-DVD set of that film, with loads of previously-unseen footage of the Youth, Nirvana, and others, complete with commentary from Moore and Markey. At present, there are legal difficulties with releasing the film, but hopefully those can be ironed out in time for a deluxe package later this year. |

I had trouble too, first make sure you have quicktime player, then instead of clicking on the link, right hand click on it and go to "save target as". Do that and it will download... |

I'm always very happy to find an early Sonic show, and it, well, psych me too cause I'm always thinking: "maybe stuff from this gig are on Sonic Death". It's undescriptible
