When Nation of Ulysses toured with Fugazi did it get on his nerves having people saying, "Hey Ian..." all of the time and then realizing they weren't talking to him?

What are his thoughts on post-"Change" liberalism in America? With the status quo affirmed by Obama's refusal to release the detainee photos, does he think youth music will become more radical and revolutionary?
And similar over ponce questions. |

the interview went well. it was pretty awesome to see him out of his stage persona. (he was tie-less and hadn't shaved!) really down to earth guy when there's not an audience. I've been a fan of the make-up/nation of ulysses for forever so it was great to finally meet him and talk for awhile (lasted about a half hour). chain and the gang were great live. I was quite surprised, because the cd was pretty boring. but I guess it's obvious that something like this would be better live.
and a lot of the stuff he says is parody/tongue-in-cheek..I mean he is radical, but you have to understand he's on a different level. he's very well-read. the issue of Electric Annihilation this interview will be should be out early september. |

Yeah, I understand his humor. My brother and I would parody back and forth right/left wing rhetoric all the time.
I think if I met him and was able to be friendly, I would parody right wing reactionary talking points back at him, like Stephen Colbert or something. |

haha, i met him last night at a chain and the gang show. he was a really nice guy. i asked him if it was difficult to understand mark e. smith when he interviewed him for soft focus and other stupid stuff like that. anyways the show was great, he's quite the showmen.

yep, that's where I interviewed him, earlier in the evening. you probably saw me, I was the dude wearing a bright orange jacket. the show was a lot of fun. hive dwellers were good too. calvin johnson is such a badass. it's always entertaining to watch him perform. |

I love The Make-Up and Weird War. I also enjoyed watching his chat show, Soft Focus, especially his interviews with UK artists.
