As most of you know by now, I really like Sonny Sharrock and in particular his record "Black Woman". That said, does anyone else get the feeling this album would be even better without that fucking moaning/singing from Linda? It doesn't even seem to have any place on the record. Sonny must've been pussy whipped.

I don't "dislike" her, I just think Black Woman should have been all instrumental. But yeah, Sharrock is a massive influence on my guitar playing. If there were three dudes who really influenced my style it goes Hendrix (duh, no one can listen to him when you're 7 and not have your life changed), Greg Ginn, and Sharrock, in that order.
But I've never dug that Yoko-style of singing. Like on John and Yoko's "Two Virgins", i hear John doing this incredible Piano Noise and Droning sounds that really are quite impressive, but then her singing comes in and its ok at first, but then she really juse overdoes it, and im forced to turn the shit off. I never turn off "Black Woman", but Linda gives me a similar feeling. |

I like it at the beginning, it adds to it I think. But when the music really picks up, she should have been a little more discerning and realized when to stop.

+1 on L Sharrock's demonic vocalising. She also yells away to ace effect on the "Monkey Pockie Boo" LP on BYG.
