1. Camper Brothers
2. Sperry Original Brown/white Topsiders 3. Clarks Originals Desert Boots (1 pr gray, 1 pr brown) 4. Clarks Originals Desert Treks (brown beeswax leather) 5. J. Crew leather flip flops 6. Teva sandals 7. Converse blue lows 8. Merrill sneakers 9. Lowa Tempest LOS (hiking shoes) 10. Puma green suede sneakers 11. Doc Marten brown leather boots 12. Doc Marten black leather shoes 13. Born leather oxfords 14. Born suede lace-up loafer/sneaker These are currently in my closet, collected over the past 12 years or so. The Lowas, by the way, are a great tough shoe. I wore them for several winters in Iowa, mowed the yard with them on many times here in South Carolina, recently washed and refurbished them, and they still hold up. There's hardly any wear in the hard rubber sole. I think you could wear these in the jungles of Madagascar and they'd keep you in good stead. They're also very comfortable.

In the early 90s I owned, no kidding, like 6 pairs of Converse. Black, red, blue, low and high tops. I wish I'd hung onto them.

By the way, if anybody ever finds a pair of these in size 11, please let me know. I am lusting for them but they appear to be out of production.

Ha ha! I know, I know, I'm such a girl. Well, the way I look at it, I have to wear something on my feet, so I might as well make it a halfway interesting pursuit.

You mean, you wear only black-and-white shoes, or this is the black-and-white part of your whole collection?

Oh, yes. Guns. I have to admit, there's something satisfying on a gut level about firing a pistol, like at a firing range. I relished my annual qualifying in the Air Force. At the same time, guns in general frighten me a bit. Enough to keep me from actually owning one.
And a good handgun is not nearly as affordable as a good pair of shoes. Or as safe.
