I dig out my old NRBQ every summer. I hardly listen to them any other time, but they've got that summer beach good times vibe.
What else is especially good this time of year? I also do more Pixies and Sonic Youth in the summer.

I listen to SY almost to an excess during the summer, along with Sigur Ros and the Smashing Pumpkins.

Yeah, Siamese Dream sounds good in summer.
I also do a lot of 60s classic rock surfing. The Who, the Stones, Yardbirds, Animals. VU & Nico, and Loaded are very summer albums to me, for some reason. So is The Modern Lovers.

I usually listen to more punk/hardcore during the summer. At The Drive-In and the Buzzcocks a lot. Also, Goo, Dirty, and Washing Machine.
VU and Nico strikes me as a fall album, not sure why. I listen to probably 5x as much music in the fall as any other season.

Yeah, actually, for some reason, I like watching movies in the summer more than listening to music. Fall/winter I return to music.

Their Satanic Majesties Request (the Stones). Great summer album. Also, Between the Buttons.

Summers the season where cooler-than-thou taste goes right out the window. Time to stick on the old Best Of CDs, open a bottle of red and settle back.

There's nothing unhealthy about listening to too many punk records. Look at me, I'm a picture of health and rarely stray beyond the Ramones pile.

Hot Fun in the Summertime and all of SLY and the Family Stone is good.
San Francisco psychedelia and Hendrix finds heavy rotation on my playlist. I'm currently listening to the SY show of 6-27-06 (2 year anniversary tomorrow !) that I just downloaded from the archives of Ingram over in Sonic Sharing. Perfect summer show ! |

One summer vacation, all I listened to was Washing Machine, so that album always reminds me of summer. Last Splash by the Breeders, duh. Also, those Djali Zwan tracks are pretty summery to me. What else? It Was Hot, We Stayed in the Water by the Microphones, I suppose. No Doubt reminds me of my childhood and summer without school... don't listen to them much anymore. Downward Is Heavenward - Hum as well. I don't know.
