I wanted to have a bunch of things (mainly BW digital files) I did printed BIG, so, boh, any infos/suggestions would be welcomed. And if you can have it done and send it over here (with me covering costs, obbbbviously), that could be interesting too.

I use a shop just round the corner from where I live. Since I go there often and theyknow me, I get some nice discounts. If I have something bigger to print I go to a remote location in the east end that I have gone to for a few years. Generally vinyl mixed with perspex. It can be a little expensive so I need to always make sure to know what I want and how I want it to look. |

I need just plain bw stuff (and I mean pure black/pure white no shades of gray), maybe ink-printed?, and this could be just the first and last time I ever try to get something like that printed... How are prices?
I opened this thread just coz the idea came to my mind, and I have no knowledge at all of this kind of equipments/process...searching online for some shop in my town that could do things like that would probably be easier, but I kinda liked the "collaborational" subtext of the thread, ha ha.

i can send prints remotely to four of these on the network at my school:
typically they're loaded with just plain white paper on a one meter roll. can be loaded with just about anything that comes on a roll that size or smaller and also sheet fed card stock, watercolor paper, mylar, acetate to a degree... i've seen someone try to put acrylic sheet through ...not pretty.

i gotta investigate on those things, maybe a "simple" one just for BW stuff on paper could be cheap-ish?

no. that is the "simple" one. we use it mostly for black and white line drawing as you describe.
depends what you consider cheap-ish... $2,895.00 $20,995.00

$2,895.00 for a new one? That's not too bad... I suppose there are older models (that one looks pretty "modern")...if there's any kind of used market for this stuff prices could be interesting (I'd buy it with a bunch of oher friends, most likely), but I'm afraid prices here would be much higher (stuff is almost 1 $ = 1 euro on "tech" things)..

i use those plotters at work to print off maps and engineering layouts for the national guard. they're cool, but a total pain in the ass to set up.
