I have tickets for a Dinosaur Jr. show in a very small venue.
all day the ice has come down and the roads are dangerous. the band is at the venue and they go on at 10:00. cabs aren't running and the lady at the cab company told me to stay home (which means I'm driving myself). anyways, it's been nice knowing y'all. I'm on a suicide mission for noise. |

good luck man, drive safe.... and even if you die it's totally worth it... as long as you die on the drive home AFTER you've already seen the band.

No word from floatingslowly yet? Hope they are okay. I wonder if Dinosaur Jr. showed up themselves given the weather being so very bad.

Typing from phone. Show went on as dino jr was already here. They made it safe to and fro. Trouble didn't happen until after 1 am when trees started crashing and things started exploding. We didn't lose power until 9 am though. There are trees down everywhere. Powerlines everywhere. My little buddy (the dove sitting on egg on a branch in my backyard) lost her home in a big way. Things came down so fast squirrels were hiding in window sills. Anyway 1 million people don't have power and some probably won't for a good while (like me since my power lines and even meter were ripped from my house. Awesome. I'm cold and typing under 12 blankets.

the power won't be back on in my house for a few weeks because the meter box was torn from the back of the house.
this means I have to: have the power company getting around to removing me from the grid have an electrician remount the box have a tree guy remove the three tons of wood that's on my line, fence and garage have the city inspect the electrician's work have the power company hook me back up to the grid there were 600,000 people without power yesterday, so none of this will happen quickly. we are staying at future-mom-in-law's empty apartment, so I had my first shower in 3 days yesterday and was finally able to change out of the clothes that I wore to the dinosaur show. I'm very very very lucky to have a place to stay. most don't. PS: Dinosaur Jr. caught the PA on fire. awesome. |

I'm glad that you're ok. I missed this thread, so I didn't know of all the troubles. I thought that robots only needed some dusting and oiling, not showers.

not yet. I fully expect them to be (see also: shit looted, house burned down), however I left all the faucets dripping. my friend who was in town broke the hot water handle on my shower on saturday, so that's been turn off since then. the fun never stops. Quote:
it's more of a hosing down than a shower. you have to get the gore off somehow. Quote:
yeah we have insurance, but we don't know if my insurance or the lady next door has to file the claim (and she's been avoiding me). it's just another firey hoop to jump through at this point. |
