i really like em all to be honest and its very difficult to decide. he has such a wealth of stuff that covers so many genres of music that its virtually impossible to keep up. even if your him.

I downloaded some My Bloody Valentine live and it seemed like you'd need to be there to really appreciate it.

I believe the ability to "poll" died some years back.
Eureka is one of my favorite listens......along with, United Red Army! |

Was Eureka for the longest time... Now I've Gotta go with Isignificance.
For the last few years I've been much more into his collaborations, though. Anyone give a listen to Behold, Jim & Oren Ambarchi's latest? Good stuff. |

I don't know, but halfway to a threeway is an amusing title.

I would have voted I'm Happy, but it's giving me an error.
I know he has too many albums to list them all, but Mizu No Nai Umi is my second favorite. I don't want to start anything, but I think I might be a bigger fan of jim than sy.

Still torn between Insignificance and Eureka.
Basically blueprints for Father John Misty’s career, those albums. |

You received the error because this thread was started 13 years ago and I believe SYG no longer supports polls?
I resurrected this O’Rouke thread because seeingtge past comments helps with the perspective of a album turning 20 years old. Jim’s been releasing some wonderful music in the Steamroom, I’m not sure many here are even aware? Someone may enjoy this The Antidote podcast featuring a Steamroom release. Quote:

Really? I’ve never heard FJM linked to anything close to Jim O’Rourke, now I’m extremely curious.

Um, yeah. This era of O’Rourke in toungue-in-check singer-songwriter mode with sweeping orchestral or classic rock arrangements? Deceptively bleak tones and lyrics sweetened with ironic humor? That’s Father John Misty. At least it was when I was paying attention. His whole thing is basically “What if Elton John was fucked the fuck up and totally cynical?” He’s less genuinely grim (and more ostentatiously dark) than O’Rourke, but basically the whole spiel FJM brought to the table with his first couple solo albums struck me as a retread of this very specific era for O’Rourke. Listen to I Love You Honeybear and a few tracks on Pure Comedy, and I think you’ll see what I mean. O’Rourke, 15 years ahead of the curve. |
