Apparently he's recorded a spoken word performance for their new record, sounds interesting, however the Cribs are the last band i thought he would work with...

I like that Hey Scenesters song they did. I decided to give them a chance as they were always namechecking Huggy Bear in interviews.

Why are people bothered by this? It seems to me if Lee wants to contribute to a Cribs CD and Kim wants to design a cover for The Gossip, then they should. Does this constitute selling out in some way? I think not. To those that feel that way, it's time to grow up. I understand where you're coming from, but it ultimately doesn't matter how anyone but the parties involved feel about it.

"The Franz Ferdinand singer added: "We met up with Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth) in NYC after Christmas for the song 'Be Safe' and (it was) one of the most spine tingling studio moments I can remember - the band playing, Gary singing and Lee improvising, all completely live. However the highlight of the recording was back in Vancouver for Ryan's 'face melting' guitar solo which involved a litre of shit wine, a somersault and a snapped neck on his favourite guitar." |

The Cribs are pretty awful, i have no idea why Lee ranaldo is involved. I saw them as a support band a few years ago and it was just dreadful. So perhaps deeper observation is required...
