Yeah I like a lot of their stuff. Mostly their first and third albums.

I had high hopes for a band that Butch Vig would be in - never liked anything I heard.

It took me a while to give a shit about beautiful garbage, but the decision to do "crappy music" was all Shirley Manson's input and I think she did some interesting things with the pop angle. If you liked the first two, try listening to "Nobody loves you". It's a pretty good song more in the vein of the first album. Bleed like me sounds pathetic from what I've heard though.

I saw the skinny bald guy with the goatee in the band on the streets of downtown Vancouver early in the morning while visiting once, the only real random 'celebrity' sighting I think I've ever had, aside from seeing Little Richard who was staying at the same hotel when I was in Hollywood.

well, actually I used to adore garbage. It was one of the first bands I heard after being a huge fan of the Spice Girls, so they were quite important to me.
I do agree that beautifulgarbage and bleed like me are two pathetic albums, but the self-titled and v2.0 are amazing albums. V2.0 has to be one of my favourite albums ever. Quote:

their 1st album was one of the best of that year, really innovative, something fresh... "queer" has about 25 layers of guitars if you listen real closely to it. good stuff.
oh man and shirley manson was SO friggin' HOT! on the version 2.0 album they tried to be too "elaborate", or so. didn't make it for me, so i quit on them. but i sure do enjoy that 1st cd. Pat. ps: yeah about that time shirley cut off her hair, dyed it blonde and started getting fat... *sigh*

Like someone else said, I used to adore this group. But I'm serious about that. I didn't see them as in the same arena as spice girls, but that's probably just my ignorance showing.
In any event, that was several years ago. I was really into the first two CDs for a while. I like the first one a lot, and the second one a little less but I still like it. 2.0 has a dead-on take on the Pretenders in one song. Their stuff after 2.0 has been extremely lame, imo. I don't why they went so wrong after those first two. |

I'll listen to them if they're on the radio, but I won't go out of my way to get an album or anything. They make nice background music.

I admit they're no Sleater-Kinney. But seriously? They suck? Those first 2 albums are darned sweet, in my humblest opining. |
