Don't even go there. Too depressing to contemplate.

Absolutely. It's cut and dry isn't it. I just can't see anyone causing them any problems. The bowling is a bit weak but the batting is just fantastic. Hayden and Ponting are immense and Gilchrist has yet to really get going.
And to think many people thought the rails had fallen off the Aus wagon after the one day series in Aus and NZ. |

If the tournament were decided by a league format then Australia would be the only competitors, but after the 'super eights' they have two games where one defeat makes the difference, and Sri Lanka have a decent team that could beat them on the right day.

Australia will take the world cup, I don't really have much doubt about that... but there's an optimistic side of me that can see Sri Lanka doing the business. I think the Lanka have managed to steadily improve, with a blip or two, throughout the tournament. Australia, of course, are a fucking machine, but still.
Is it tomorrow we've got the Windies? I hope we can salvage some dignity from that...

australia to win it of course, thats a gimme but all hail the mighty irish. we had a great tournament. not bad for a country who the majority of the population point and laugh at people who even semi contemplate even thinking about watching cricket!!!
still cant quite fathom the significance of the irish beating pakistan tho. that was unreal! |
