Anyone out there recommend some classic jazz? Im not being too specific really, just that its from back in the day ye know, 40's to the 70's maybe. Roughly round about that time. None of this modern day shiiiiite. Unless ofcourse any of you can recommend some class modern day tunes?

i could make a really really long list. but i am sure that everybody will or has said what i want. but if you want really classic jazz, like 20's or earlier, check out jelly roll morton, he is simply amazing.

Most of McCoy Tyner's albums are worth getting.
Sahara is a good one to start off with, even though it was a commercial success in jazz terms. |

forgot to mention jason moran as a newbie
really rooted in the tradition but very modern too. a rare combination in my opinion. check out black stars-its got sam rivers who is an old guy. |
