The Smiths:
Hatful Of Hollow The Queen Is Dead Meat Is Murder The World Won't Listen Louder Than Bombs Strangeways Here We Come The Smiths There are better bootlegs than the live Rank. As far as The Cure are concerned: Pornography Three Imaginary Boys Boys Don't Cry Faith Staring At The Sea Morrisey solo: Vauxhall And I Your Arsenal Viva Hate Ringleader Of The Tormentors is a mostly good album too Some bands unrelated to The Smiths but worth checking out if you like them: The Primitives Moose The first two Suede albums The La's (first album only) |

I agree with what's been proposed.
Hatful of hollow is underrated in my opinion (I may like it more than the studio albums), and Boys don't cry is a good compilation as it includes very good songs that aren't on Three imaginary boys. |

My first experience of The Smiths was 'The Queen Is Dead'. I listened to it over and over and over on a 10-hour bus journey once when I was a teenager, coming back to London from Edinburgh. It was the only album I brought with me on the bus.. and it's only about half an hour long, so I just kept replaying it. It's one of those albums that I know inside out and backwards now. No regrets there.
My first experience of The Cure was dancing around to 'Love Cats' when I was little. It's actually one of my earliest musical memories. I can't remember a time when I didn't know that song. I still feel like a toddler whenever I hear it. The first Cure album I bought for myself was 'Disintegration'. No regrets there either. |

My favorite Cure albums are Seventeen Seconds, Faith and Pornography, all of which are now available in deluxe CD form with a ton of fantastic extra tracks, live cuts and demos from that period.
I also agree with Torn Curtain that Hatful Of Hollow is underrated for the Smiths. That is a fine album, and some of the versions on there are my favorites. |

I wouldn't really say that Hatful Of Hollow is an underrated Smiths album. It is widely recognized by many of their fans as their 'true' first album. And that is because it's much better.

Get everything by The Smiths. The Cure score 6/10 on the band chart. 'Boys Don't Cry' and 'In Between Days' are cute numbers. Check out the gerogerigegege's cover of 'Boys Don't Cry', it's spot on.

What?
Kiss me...has exactly one good song on it; The Snakepit. That album was the beginning of the end for me with them. After that it was just a song or two here and there. |
