a very sad story to come out from ireland this aftrnoon.....
A post mortem examination has established that a man whose body was found at a waste recycling centre in Limerick died as a result of a tragic accident. The body of the man, who was in his mid-30s and homeless, was found in a large wheelie bin at a waste recycling depot in Grange, 13km from Limerick city, at 12.15pm yesterday afternoon. State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy established that his death was caused by severe crush injuries incurred accidentally when the container was loaded onto a refuse collection truck. Gardaí say it appears the man had climbed into the large wheelie bin to take shelter for the night. It is understood he had not made contact with any of the homeless agencies in the city to seek accommodation. Efforts to establish the man's identity are continuing and gardaí are trying to contact members of his family in England. He was English-born and had arrived in Limerick at the weekend, having previously spent some time in Cork. Gardaí are anxious to hear from any members of Limerick's homeless community who might know anything about the man's movements over the weekend. The Mayor Of Limerick, Ger Fahy, described the man's death as a terrible tragedy and extended his sympathy to his family. Sara Birchette of the Simon Community said it was shocking that a young man could die in such circumstances in an Irish city and it underscored the vulnerability of homeless people. from http://www.rte.ie/ |

i dont think that accident qualifies as "tragic". that shit's the stuff of comedy, not tragedy! it's like stepping on a banana peel, only worse. maybe im thinking in literary terms, but really. king lear is a tragedy. man in the trash can is not a tragedy. where' the heroic character, with the tragic character flaw and the tragic fate? |
