I returned the EHX Electric Mistress (Flanger/Filter Matrix)
today that I bought used yesterday, since something was screwed up on it. I have been curious about the Polychorus for a while, so I tried it out today. I quickly realized that the Polychorus has the exact flanger/filter matrix that the Electric Mistress has, plus chorus and double track, so it made perfect sense to pick it up, since I really did like the Electric Mistress. You can get some pretty crazy synth-like sounds out of it (thanks to the feedback knob, which the Memory Man has also) but it's very versatile for more subtle sounds too. The Filter Matrix setting is like a frozen flange effect: You can manually turn the dial to make a flange, or you can leave it in one place to add an unnatural overtone to your guitar. I find this particularly cool with distortion, because you can make your guitar sound slightly metallic and artificial sounding. This will be fun to try on other instruments also. I had nothing better to do, so I made a quick collage of seven tracks of various sounds from this thing using my Jazzmaster. It's pretty over the top. You can hear it here: http://s42.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1...U1JWK9BB4UUCWJ |

This thing is highly recommended. It also has a really nice slap delay similar to the memory man on the double track setting. I also found a setting that sounds very similar to a banjo!

this is why i love flangers. Sounds cool. I've got an old old digitech chorus/flanger which pretty cool, no EHX alas/

I dont particularly like flanger and chorus effects, then it's the use that makes difference.
